Cody Mumma says ‘Expect a little rock and roll’.

Cody Mumma is old school. He has a quiet disposition to him that directly conflicts with his long flowing hair and general rock star appearance. Even his cell phone ring back is ‘Born on the Bayou’ by CCR, but when he answers he sounds like a man that is just as comfortable knocking heads off of opponents as he is in sitting back and listening to classic rock.

Mumma will be taking on Bryan Linzmeyer at Fight to Win’s ZOMBIES card this Friday night. Not only will be he be moving up a weight class, but he’ll be looking to bounce back from his first MMA loss. The two tie closely together, as Mumma believes that part of the reason for his defeat was fighting at 185.

“Honestly I might have been cutting a little too much weight. That’s why we’re moving up to 205. My head definitely wasn’t in the right spot,” Mumma said on Tuesday morning.

While Mumma is still forced to cut some weight to hit 205, he believes the energy level fans have come to expect from him will be right where he wants it to be.

“I like to keep the pace high energy. I train really hard and my cardio is really good and I feel I can push the pace to match that. I think I’ll be able to push the fight where I want it to go so I’m expecting some high energy.”

This appears to be a quick turnaround between fights, since Mumma just fought in August, but he disagrees.

“It doesn’t seem like a short layover for me, because I never really leave the gym a whole lot. I had a bad taste in my mouth after that last fight and I wanted to get right back into it.”

This marks the third fight card for Fight to Win that Mumma will be on and he attributes this to promoter Seth Daniels.

“It is very enjoyable to fight for Seth. He puts on a great show and he puts in a lot of work on his shows and that makes it enjoyable to fight for him.”

At Zombies, a ‘bad moon’ may well be on the rise as Mumma takes the ring to restart his winning ways and take out his frustration on Linzmeyer.

“It should be a good show, I guess you can expect a little rock and roll.”

Cody wanted to thank Grudge, RiNo Sports Gallery, Thumb Light, Built Thrive, Triple Designs and Hooters who will be catering his after party.
